I loved just about every moment of my vacation—the delectable eats, the historic sites and sights, some of which will be highlighted in upcoming posts. But I did not care for the blazing heat.
Of course I knew it was coming. It was the second time I’ve visited a tropical country during winter, and both times have been for weddings. This next part is going to sound crazy, but given the choice, I wouldn’t budge closer to the equator at this time of year.
That’s because I’ve never really understood the desire of temporarily escaping to warmer climates in the colder months. You eventually have to return to snow and below-freezing temperatures, then you’re likely to complain about how you wished you never left in the first place.
Despite my tropical blood, I don’t care much for summer and don’t often complain about winter, so I never feel like I need (or necessarily want) to “get away” from it.
Still. I had a total blast being in another country with Matt and some of my closest friends and despite Cryfest 2010 on the wedding day, I left Colombia with new bonds, new experiences and many Bloorp-like stories to share.
